NEET 2027 CBT Mock Test: Free Practice and How to Prepare

Where NEET 2027 computer-based testing stands as of October 2026, which mock tests are free, and how to prepare without guessing

NEET 2027 CBT Mock Test: Free Practice and How to Prepare

NEET UG is the single entrance test for MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH seats, and the NTA runs it. The 2026 cycle went badly. The 12 May cancellation followed a paper leak, and students sat the exam again on 21 June 2026. Out of that came a proposal to hold NEET on computers from 2027. What follows is where that proposal stands today, what practice is free, and how a candidate might plan around the uncertainty.

Where NEET 2027 CBT Stands

The announcement came first. The Education Minister said on 15 May 2026 that NEET would go computer-based in 2027, and the NTA told the Supreme Court it was ready for the switch. Then the government changed its tone. By early August, it had told the court that no final decision on the 2027 mode was made, and a 16 September affidavit said the question awaits recommendations from the task force headed by Nandan Nilekani. As of 22 October, the NTA had issued no notice or bulletin for NEET UG 2027.

The current picture is split:

  • Announced: CBT from 2027
  • Undecided: the final mode, pending the task force
  • Missing: the exam date, registration window, and shift plan
  • Reported only: a six-day test across more than 1,000 centres

The NTA calendar published on 16 September leaves NEET UG 2027 out, and no official date exists. The “2 May 2027” seen on many sites is a guess based on earlier years. The only reliable source is neet.nta.nic.in.

What the Pattern May Look Like

Nothing is notified for 2027. Most publishers assume the 2026 pattern will carry over: 180 compulsory questions, 720 marks, four marks for a right answer and one deducted for a wrong one. Shifts are an open question, since no normalisation formula has been announced, and no syllabus change has been confirmed.

What Changes on a Screen

On a computer, each question sits behind a palette that shows what is answered, skipped, or flagged. There is no booklet to scribble on. Calculations move to a rough sheet, and a long Chemistry structure has to be read off a monitor. Most candidates find that pacing feels different too, because flipping back to a flagged question takes a click instead of a page turn. Three hours of screen time also tires the eyes in a way paper does not, which is why practising early matters.

Free Practice Options

Free practice exists, though it is not all built for NEET.

  • National Test Abhyas: a free NTA app with exam-level mocks for medical and engineering aspirants.
  • NTA mock portal (nta.ac.in): one tracker found a general CBT familiarisation mock but nothing NEET-specific in October 2026.
  • Rank Pro Free Custom Test Builder: pick the subject, chapter, topic, and difficulty, then get 45 questions with instant results and an answer key. The first test is free. Scoring 40 correct answers unlocks a second.
  • Previous-year papers: attempt them on a laptop with a timer running.

Be careful with any site calling itself the “official NEET 2027 CBT platform”. The NTA has not confirmed the mode, so no one can verify that claim yet.

Rank Pro Plans

Candidates who want a full series can choose from several plans, all in online and OMR formats. Prices below are current at the time of writing:

  • Rank Chapter Master, ₹49: 45 questions for each of 85 chapters
  • Rank Builder, ₹2,499: 18 unit, review, and semi-major tests
  • Rank Champion, ₹3,499: 12 part-syllabus mocks, plus 1:1 faculty doubt-solving
  • OMR Master, ₹4,999 at a centre or ₹5,999 with papers sent home: 30 physical OMR tests
  • Rank Pro Mission 720, ₹6,999: 85 chapter tests, 18 part-syllabus tests, 12 full-syllabus mocks, and ranker mentorship

These follow today’s OMR pattern. A candidate expecting a computer-based exam should add screen practice on top. The live prices are on rankpro.co.in.

Preparing Without Waiting for the Bulletin

The base does not change: NCERT coverage of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, with regular timed tests. Chapter-wise tests work well in the first months. After the new year, full-length mocks can shift gradually onto a screen, at the same time of day the exam is likely to run. Because a wrong answer costs a mark, mocks are also where a candidate learns how many risky guesses are worth taking.

The review matters more than the score. Sorting each lost mark into a concept gap, a careless slip, or a time problem shows what to fix. Tracking accuracy and time per subject over several tests makes the pattern visible. Weak chapters are best revisited within a week, before the same errors repeat.

Limitations

A mock score shows readiness on the day. It does not predict rank. Practising on a screen removes the surprise of the format, but it will not replace weak concepts. Rank predictors that sound certain deserve scepticism.

Key Takeaways

  • CBT is announced, not final, and the Nilekani task force holds the decision
  • As of 22 October 2026, there is no NTA bulletin, date, or pattern for 2027
  • Free practice: NTA Abhyas and Rank Pro’s Free Custom Test Builder
  • Start screen practice in early 2027 and review every test for patterns
  • Check neet.nta.nic.in before acting on any update
